Alison Irwin Workshops

Saturday, May 30 10am-4pm
“Bands with Hands” : put your basic inkle weaving skills to good use in a class that introduces you to pick-up and drop-down designs. A “spotted” threading makes extra patterns possible. Most designs are reversible.

Students must be able to warp their inkle loom according to a draft provided prior to class.
Student to supply: warped inkle loom, shuttle, scissors, pencil, eraser. Suggested yarn: 5/2 mercerized or 4/8 unmercerized cotton in 3 or 4 colours.

Sunday, May 31 10am-4pm
“Pebble Weave on the Inkle Loom” : This pick-up technique is normally associated with backstrap looms but can also be woven on the inkle loom. The pattern portion of the band is warped in two colours. Picked up designs range from dots (“pebbles”) to complex curliques.

Students must be able to warp their inkle loom according to a draft provided prior to class.
